Bernice Lucille Sherman, 58, of Tabb, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003.

She was a native of Nansemond County and had been an area resident for more than 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Cook; her foster parents, Julius and Cephas Jefferson; and a sister, Betty Sherman.

She was a member of Zion Prospect Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sisters, Sandra Holland, Gloria Willie, and Carolyn Crocker and her husband, Lynard, all of Suffolk; and Cathy Eley, and her husband, Michael, of Newport News; and one foster sister, Lenora Jordan of Yorktown.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Zion Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. Walter Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service in the home of Lenora Jordan.
