Grayce V. Benton

Grayce Vincent Benton, 100, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach. Born on Dec. 15, 1902, in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Askew and Kate Leadbetter Vincent, widow of Floyd Robinson Benton Sr., and mother of the late George Edmond Benton and Floyd R. Benton Jr.
Mrs. Benton was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member and past president of the Suffolk Garden Club. She was a resident of Westminster Canterbury for 21 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Benton Odom, her husband, Henry H. Odom, of Suffolk; daughter-in-law, Lura S. Benton of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Beth Odom-Rechenbach of Richmond; H. Hunter Odom Jr. of Suffolk; Mark and Randell Benton of Jacksonville, Fla.; Laura Benton Knobl of Port Richey, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hart and Hunt Odom of Suffolk; Nicholas, Bryan Conner and Cameron Benton of Jacksonville; and Drew Knobl of Port Richey, Fla.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Clifton Whitlock.
The family will receive friends at the Odom home, 512 Dumville Ave., Suffolk.
