Helen Odean Batts Cross, 72, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Drum Hill, N. C.

A native of Gates County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Rufus P. and Hattie Lottie Batts, and the widow of Roy H. Cross.

She was a member of Eaton’s Temple Holiness Church, Drum Hill, where she served on the Senior Citizens Board.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia C. Riddick of Suffolk; two sons, Dwight R. Cross (Vernestine) of Suffolk; and Mark E. Cross (Lisa) of Corapeake, N.C.; one brother, Herman Batts Sr. of Drum Hill, N.C.; two grandchildren, Chantelle Cross and Courtney Cross; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, in Eaton’s Temple Holiness Church, Drum Hill, by Bishop L.F. Eaton II. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 17 Drum Hill Church Lane, Drum Hill.

The family will also receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home.
