Evora H. Luke

On Thursday, May 22, 2003, God called home one of his own, our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Evora Virginia Holland Luke.

Luke was born on July 28, 1927 to the late Robert and Annie Maude Rodgers Holland. She was the youngest of four children.

Evora retired as cafeteria manager of Mt. Zion Elementary School.

She was a member of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she had served previously on many organizations, including as president of the Pastor’s Aide, a Senior Choir member and a Senior Usher Board member.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Otis W. Luke Jr.; two daughters, Barbara Luke of Washington, D.C.; and Linda &uot;Mitzy&uot; Luke Young, and her husband, Charles of White Marsh, Md.; three granddaughters, Joy C. Hargrove Porter, and her husband, Brian, of Chesapeake; and Jessica and Hillary Young of White Marsh; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Porter of Chesapeake; one sister, Lynette Winborne, and her husband, James, of Suffolk; and two sisters-in-law, Erma Holland and Clarine Holland, both of Suffolk; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 26, in Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Franklin Williams officiating. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence at 2281 Kings Fork Road.

Crocker Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements.
