Marion Brawner Braford, 79, of Suffolk, a retired caterer, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003.

Born on Sept. 4, 1923 in Alexandria, she was the daughter of the late Elwin I. and Ora Dickert Brawner.

Mrs. Braford was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the Wesley-Rawls Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Braford; son, Robert R. Watkins, his wife, Nancy, of Chesapeake; daughters, Becky Gwaltney, and her husband, Dwight, of Smithfield; and Neil Watkins of Holden Beach, N.C.; stepsons, Robert A. Braford, his wife, Sue, and Paul H. Braford, all of Suffolk; step-daughter, Mary Louise Martin, her husband, Steve, of Chesapeake; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert J. Parks Jr. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Highbridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Natural Bridge.

The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, from 7-8 p.m. Thursday.
