Frank Weymouth Crumpler died June 1, 2003.

A native of Smithfield, he was the son of the late George Madison and Fannie Scott Crumpler and the widower of Ida Louise Hayes Crumpler, to whom he was married 59 years.

Mr. Crumpler was a member of the Isaac Walton League, the recipient of the Tobin Award and an honorary member of the Rogers Deer Club. He owned and operated a plumbing and heating business for 28 years in Suffolk. He was a graduate of Smithfield High School class of 1940 and attended Newport News Apprentice School for three years, when he was called into the military service.

A veteran of WW II, he served in Patton’s Third Army, 90th Division and received the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, two bronze stars, three oak leaf clusters, and the French De Guerre Badge.

He is survived by several nieces and cousins; and special friends, Linda and Russell Warren, and Heather and Russ Warren.

The graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
