Johnnetta Wood has brought a new look to the Washington Square Mall in the heart of Downtown Suffolk: Wood’s Corner Featuring Trinity Creations. This is a variety business that speaks for itself in many ways.

Wood has been in business since May 15, but at 6 o’clock tonight she will sponsor an event featuring singing and praise dancing groups to celebrate the store’s opening. Refreshments will be served immediately after the program.

This is also being held in commemoration with the Grand Opening Days at The Washington Square Mall that will take place for two days, from 10 a.m.- closing, Friday and Saturday.

At Wood’s Corner Featuring Trinity Creations you can shop for jewelry, clothing, skin care products while planning for a trip. You can also pick out a pretty artificial flower arrangement to give to your mother, wife or girlfriend when you visit them or use for just plain decorating your home. Then, after you do all of these, you can take an aerobic exercise or learn the latest dances just for the fun of it.

Wood, the proprietor of the store, said she decided to form this business after people started noticing her many pairs of earrings and clothing that she owned. She said they then asked her where did she get them and to purchase the item when she went shopping again.

&uot;I would end up with a truck full of merchandise that included two of everything so I needed a place to put them. I heard about Variety Flea Mall and I opened up in this location,&uot; Wood said.

She also said that she still travels to New York, Baltimore, Atlanta, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. to select merchandise and is always looking for wholesale items and items on sale.

&uot;I make these shopping trips my mini vacations,&uot; she said.

After Wood settled here, she brought in Erva Sumberlin with &uot;Grup&uot; Opportunity Travel Service Inc. and Demos (Guy) Turner, who is gifted in creating his own artificial flower arrangements.

She loves dancing and has heard many people speak about the desire to take aerobics. So she has plans to secure the right people to teach the dances most desired.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, she will sponsor a workshop and applications will be distributed requesting those in attendance to list what dances that they would like to learn. Some of them that she said she has in mind already are the Praise Dance, African Ballet, and line dancing.

&uot;I have recently befriended a person who can teach the African Ballet. The workshop is being held to see what dances people most prefer what days they are available and what time is convenient so that we can get an idea how classes will be set up. Right now we are looking at Monday nights at 5 p.m. and Wednesday; nights at 7 p.m.,&uot; said Wood.

However, the business will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. six days a week.

Woods said this is the ideal business that she wants to devote her time with, and that she has no desire to expand.

&uot;I am satisfied with what is here at the moment, hoping that we can help each other when we draw our different crowds to the business. I wanted something to do in my retirement and I am loving what I am doing,&uot; she said.
