Reginald M. Elam

Reginald M. Elam Sr., 76, of 404 Fuller Street, Suffolk, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 12, 2003, in Obici Hospital.
He was a native of Southampton County, and the son of the late Addison and Thelma Joyner Elam.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Reginald M. Elam II.
He was retired from Virginia Packing Company and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Elam of the home; five daughters, Barbara Moore (Clarence), Brenda Scott (Ricky), Linda Holland (James), Laverne Johnson (David), and Yvonne Elam, all of Suffolk; six sons, Larry Elam (Verona) of Chesapeake; Calvin Elam (Cynthia) of Newport News; James Elam, David Elam (Renee), Earnest Elam (Angie), and Eric Elam (Robin), all of Suffolk; a special grandson, Larmar Newsome; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gracie Waters (Thomas) of Ivor, and Emma Phillips (Robert) of Portsmouth; two aunts, Evelyn Warren of Zuni, and Essie Clary of Norfolk; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral will be held at noon Monday in Oak Grove Baptist Church by Dr. Anthony Copeland.
Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Sunday.
