Ellawease D. Hicks

Ellawease D. Hicks, daughter of the late John Daney and Dollie Williams, was born on July 29, 1929 in Manning. S.C. The Lord called her from labor to reward on June 16, 2003, at Autumn Care in Suffolk. Her husband, Theodore Hicks, and her twin sister, Mildred D. Burgess, predeceased her.

Ella was educated in South Carolina. She was employed by the Virginia School System as a cafeteria worker at Booker T. Washington Elementary School.

She was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church. She served on the Combined Choir, Senior Choir, a faithful Sunday school member, and a faithful Bible Study member.

She leaves to cherish her memory three devoted sisters, Beulah Patterson of Suffolk; Ella Jane Hicks of Manning, S.C.; and Beatrice Walker of Philadelphia, Pa.; one aunt, Velma Richardson of Suffolk; one foster brother, Lee Ernest Daney (Virginia) of Alexandria, La.; two devoted friends, Teresinia (Candy) Davis and Mattie Woods; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Tabernacle Christian Church. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Viewing will be held from noon-7 p.m. Wednesday in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.
