Lionel Wilson Sr.

Lionel Wilson Sr., 69, of 122 S. Wellons St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of New Orleans, La., and a son of the late Joseph and Henrietta Bell Wilson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a paratroop jumper during the Korean Conflict.

He had retired from the Transit Authority.

He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church United, where he served as a past chairman of the Deacon Board, vice treasurer of the church, treasurer of the Missionary Circle, and past president of the Beautification Club, and a member of the Senior Choir.

He was a lifetime member of the NAACP.

He is survived by his wife, Ann L. Wilson; two sons, Lionel Wilson Jr. (Dorma) of Queens, N.Y.; and Gregory Wilson (Angela) of New Jersey; one daughter, Donna Marie Wilson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Joseph Wilson of New Orleans; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Benita Lee Thomas of North Babylon, N.Y.; Millicent Lee Williams (Rev. Gregory Williams) and Cynthia Lee Kerr, all of Miami, Fla.; one stepson, George Lee Jr. of Central Islip, N.Y.; 11 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Wednesday, June 25, in Bethlehem Christian Church United by the Rev. Emanuel Myrick Jr. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at Crocker Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
