Marketing Education students designed the application. They also worked with the State Farm Insurance agents with setting up the application process and guidelines for selecting the recipient. A scholarship committee was formed.

The applications were judged based on academic performance, school, work, and community involvement, and DECA participation.

Ewell has taken Marketing and Advanced Marketing courses. These are offered through Career and Technical Education – Marketing Education. This year Ewell participated in several DECA projects. He also participated in

the DECA district and state leadership conferences for the past two years.

Ewell is employed at Food Lion on Route 17. He really enjoys his job. Ewell plans on attending Chowan College in the fall.

The Nansemond River High School DECA Club is very appreciative of the $500 scholarship. A very special thanks goes to DeLoach and Willie.

The DECA co-advisors are Mrs. S. Michele Duncan and J.B. Varney.
