In May, the church sponsored a dinner and auction in King’s Fork Middle School with the purpose of giving back to the community in which it serves. The total raised from this activity was $12,399.

On Wednesday, the Rev. Michael Hall, pastor, met with Jim Caton representing the Suffolk Shelter for the Homeless; Fran Alwood representing The Suffolk Habitat for Humanity; and Cindy Cindy Butts representing the Suffolk Family YMCA, to present each organization with a check of $4,133 each.

Carmen Halley, the pastor’s wife, said the church had sponsored this event once in the past but the proceeds went toward the church’s building fund.

&uot;About 300 people attended and the program was a success so this is the first time that we have given back to the community in this way,&uot; Halley said.
