Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Inc. will recognize 55 health care workers who attended the former Suffolk high school at this year’s reunion event.

Two alumni ministers will be the featured speakers at the eighth bi-annual reunion this weekend. All activities will take place at the Shrine Club on Elizabeth Street.

At the 2001 event, alumni who pursued careers in the ministry were honored. The Rev. Clifford B. Chambliss Jr. and Minister Lavern C. Maurant were among those and both will return as participants. Chambliss will speak at the breakfast at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Maurant will deliver the morning message on Sunday.

Other guests on the weekend program include Christopher Williams, who will play the saxophone; Parris McAdoo, who will render a poem; and Marshe’ Dunaway will do a sign interpretation.

On Sunday, the women of Second Chance, under the direction of Earlene Davis-Lee, will perform and the BTW Alumni Choir will be featured.

Chambliss is a resident of Richmond and received his BA degree from Shaw University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia Union University School of Theology.

He is the son of Exyie Chambliss and the late Clifford B. Chambliss.

Maurant is a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio. She has completed postgraduate seminars at Florida Memorial, Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Cincinnati University. She is trained in Reality Therapy and TheoPhostic and pastoral counseling.

She is the daughter of the late Walden and Cullen Hunter.
