Jane S. Butler

Jane Sadler Butler, 71, died July 13, 2003. Born Oct. 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lida Holland and Alvah Ernest Sadler.
Mrs. Butler was a life long member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she served as head of the care and concerns committee and chairman of the memorial committee. She was a volunteer at the Chrysler Museum. A member of the Suffolk Art League, The Westover Garden Club, the Suffolk Social Club and an avid horsewoman. Her, horse, Mr. Major Motion, won the highest awards in the United States and Canada. She was a member of the Virginia Arabian Horse Association, Old Dominion Arabian Horse Association, U.S.A. Equestrian Association and the International Arabian Horse Association. Mrs. Butler was an accomplished artist and a good friend to everyone.
Survivors include her husband, James Edgar Butler Jr.; one daughter, Deborah B. Prost and her husband Stewart of Portsmouth: two sons, James E. Butler Jr. and his wife Debbie of Suffolk; and Michael Randolph Butler and his wife Georgiana of Virginia Beach; one brother Edward L. Sadler and his wife Anna of Nags Head, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jenna Butler, Ashley Butler, Michael Butler Jr. and Hunter Butler; and a dear friend of the family, Mary Copeland of Windsor.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert J. Parks Jr. followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Burial will take place in Holly Lawn Cemetery after the reception.
