Curtis Elliot Scott on Monday, July 14, 2003, stepped out of time into eternity.
He was born to the late Sam and Lizzie Scott on July 14, 1949 in Berkesville.
Curtis attended John F. Kennedy Elementary School. and at an early age he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. where he completed his education in the New York City Public School System. He graduated from Bushwich High School.
Curtis united with the Saint Mary Church of Christ. His love for driving inspired him to pursue a career with the Metropolitan Transit Authority, New York City, as a surface line operator.
To cherish his legacy and to rejoice in his living, he leaves his wife of 31 years, Elaine; two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis (Elaine) and Jason (Shonda); three grandchildren, Chanaye, Cyree and Christian; a mother-in-law, Erma Hood Wright; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam (Peggy), Leroy (Lizzie) and Milton, all of Suffolk; and Hoffer Lee (Alice) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Lois Scott Meggie of Brooklyn; and Pearlie Mae Scott Jones of Suffolk; special god-daughters, Tuesday Grimes and Artina Turner; and one special god-son Tyree Jones; three sisters-in-law, Betty Hood, Zella Scott and Bernice Scott; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, in the chapel of T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. Interment will be in Balm of Gilead Church Cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 20 in the funeral home.
