Have you recently found yourself in a difficult situation where you didn’t know what to do? Panic might have been an understandable reaction. But what if you had been taught long ago what to do just in case. Then that knowledge springs to mind and the matter is quickly resolved.

That’s one of the intended results of the annual CARE (Children’s Assistance and Resource) Fair, where safety and health were emphasized Saturday at King’s Fork Middle School.

Dealing with house fires, resisting pressure to smoke and practicing dental hygiene were among the many topics that youngsters learned about. They are ordinary matters, but still the kind that should be taught.

We hope to see CARE continue for years to come, and thank all the volunteers and agencies involved.
