Ms. Karen K. Whitfield, born on Aug. 2, 1965, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003.

She attended East Suffolk Elementary School, and was a graduate of the former John Yeates High School.

She was a member of Gates of Heaven COGIC, and a former member of the MLJ Mass Choir of the church.

She was predeceased by her father, William Henry Blount, her brother, William H. Whitfield, and her stepfather, Earnest Gatling.

She leaves to cherish her fond memory a daughter, Jasmine M. Whitfield; a son, Antonio L. Whitfield; her mother, Missionary Dorothy Whitfield Gatling; a sister, Jenice Whitfield Madison; a brother-in-law, Derek Tracy Madison; her maternal grandmother, Julia V. Whitfield; one great-great aunt, Elsie Murphy; one great-uncle, Bennie G. Boone; two nieces, Trishana Scott and Gloria Mizell; two nephews, Demeritrous Madison and William Mizell; five great-nephews; and several cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Gates of Heaven COGIC, 112 Beech St. The pastor, Elder Sylvester Silver Sr., will conduct the service. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Suffolk Tower, 181 N. Main St., Apt. 702.

The family will assemble for the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Derek Madison, 225 N. Saratoga St.
