Mrs. Malissa O. Raymond, 87, of Newport New, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, in Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton .

She was a resident of Coliseum Park Nursing Facility, and a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Raymond, and a grandson, Terence M. Singleton.

She is survived by one daughter, Louise R. Singleton (Arthur) of Suffolk; one sister, Rena O. Gaffney of Jacksonville, Fla.; one granddaughter, Arlette L. Smith (Frederick); two great-grandchildren, Jason Louis Douglas and Jaymyne Malissa Douglas; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Basilica of St. Mary, Norfolk, by the Rev. John J. Dorgan, pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
