Mr. Jessie J. Alexander Sr. 98, of 509 Reed Court Suffolk, died Aug. 16, 2003 in Obici Hospital. A native of Roper, N.C. he was a son of the late Jim Harlebleu and Lucindy Alexander-Harlebleu, he was also preceded in death by his wife Annie Mae Alexander.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, and retired from the Ramsey Lumber Co.

He is survived by two sons, William Alexander of Portsmouth and Jessie Alexander Jr. of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Mae Pearl Copeland of Lawton, OK; and Hazel L. Powers of Tarboro, N.C.; five grandsons, six granddaughters, and 15 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at Crocker Funeral Home by Brother Soloman Darden.
