Nine people – a family of seven and two guests – were burned out of their Holland home Wednesday afternoon.

The fire originated in the kitchen of the bungalow, which is located at 700 Dutch Road, said Capt. Jim Judkins, spokesman for the Suffolk Fire Department. Details were sketchy on how the fire started late Wednesday.

Damage is estimated at $25,000, Judkins said.

The house, a rental property, is owned by Mabel Darden. The name of the family who rented it was not available Wednesday.
