Mabel Boone, left, makes a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy foundation Thursday in front of the Suffolk Wal-Mart on North Main Street, collected by Suffolk firefighter Doug Darden, right. Darden is one of several Suffolk firefighters (identifiable by their bright orange T-shirts and MDA Banners) who will spend the weekend raising money for the Local 2801 organization, which raised $26,000 last season. All money collected will be presented on Labor Day during a local segment of the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Firefighters will be at the following locations: Wal-Mart: 1200 N. Main St. and 6259 College Drive; Sentry Food Marts: 2332 Pruden Blvd.; and 6273 Holland Road; J&L Market; 6500 Whaleyville Blvd.; Racetrac: 1216 Portsmouth Blvd.; Food Lions: 3215 Bridge Road, 1524 Holland Road, 1010 Portsmouth Blvd., and 2815 Godwin Blvd.
