BB&T has promoted Cathy P. Stancell to investment officer. Stancell, an investment counselor who joined the bank in 2001, is based at 1008 W. Washington St.

The Suffolk native is a member of the board of finance at Bethlehem Christian Church.

Stancell and her husband, Wayne, reside in Suffolk, and have two children. She is the daughter of Malene Parker of Suffolk, and the late Royce Parker.
