Modistene L. Clemon is displaying the &uot;Yard of the Month&uot; sign one more time today, but later the East Suffolk Garden resident will have to give it up to another winner.

Clemon has displayed the sign since July 24 when Bobby Knight, a resident of East Suffolk Gardens and a member of the &uot;Yard of the Month&uot; committee placed it there for winning the title for the month of August.

Clemon said that she works in the yard every day and had a collection of flowers that include mums, marigold, lilies and chrysanthemum.

&uot;I was brought up around a lot of flowers when I was a little girl and when I was working, I never had the spare time to take care of them,&uot; she said. &uot;Now that I do have the time, I enjoy doing it. I have two good workers who help to keep my yard looking good: Sammy Daily, who helps me with the flowers, and Percy Hill who cuts my grass once a week.&uot;

The &uot;Yard of the Month&uot; committee was formed in the year 2000 to encourage residents to maintain beautiful yards and to promote an eye-catching neighborhood for passersby.

Members and judges of a new committee that was formed this year are Knight, Sarah Brown, Virginia Bowers and Vernice Walston.
