Mrs Rose Mae Pope, 71, of 1749 Saw Mill Point Road, Suffolk, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 in Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County, and the daughter of the late William Townsend and Elizabeth Joyner Cornish.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, the Usher Board and the Emma Kelly Club.

Survivors include her husband, James Pope of Suffolk; two sisters, Lillian Smith of Baltimore, Md. and Joyce Leaphart of Philadelphia, Pa.; one godson, Antoine Thomas of the U.S. Navy; two brothers, Brian Williams and Gary Williams, both of Philadelphia; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in Macedonia Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Bernard Thomas.

Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
