A local cab driver who allegedly tried to have the owner of a rival company killed is being held without bond in Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Suffolk authorities on Tuesday charged Jermaine Teron Cottle Sr., 23, of the 900 block of Freeney Avenue, with criminal solicitation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, said Detective J.M. Jones. He also goes by the name by Dwayne Teron Cottle Sr.

Cottle offered another man $500 to kill Vincent Bey, owner/operator of Vinny’s Taxi Service, between July 5 and Aug. 23, said Jones. Authorities are not releasing the name of the person Cottle attempted to hire.

A search of Cottle’s home turned up a shotgun, Jones said.
