A third youth was charged Saturday with taking part in the abduction and rape of a 14-year-old Chesapeake girl as she visited the home of a friend in the 6100 block of Bradford Drive in northern Suffolk.

The 14-year-old Nansemond River High School student did not take part in the August rape, but according to Suffolk Police Detective Patrice Sessoms, after the victim left the room in which she was raped, the 14-year-old pulled a handgun and told her he would shoot her if she did not have sex with all eight youths in the home at the time.

Sessoms charged the boy with attempted abduction, possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and he is now being held at Tidewater Detention Home.

The 12-year old boy, the first suspect who is a John Yeates Middle School student, has been released from TDH, and is under electronic monitoring detention, while the 15-year-old female suspect from Chesapeake remains in custody.

The victim was hospitalized for one night after the assault, said. Lt. Debbie J. George, interim spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

According to George, the incident took place while approximately eight other juveniles, ranging in ages 12 to 15, were in the home.

She said the boy’s father had gone to a local store for a few minutes, leaving no adult supervision at the house. When he received a call advising that his home was filled with juveniles, he went home immediately.
