Mattie Louise Lowe Schwalenberg, 82, of the 8200 block of River Crescent, Suffolk, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, in her home.

Mrs. Schwalenberg, a native of Ahoskie, N.C., was a member of Junto Women’s Club and Cedar Point Club.

Survivors include her husband, Frank A. Schwalenberg; two children, Mary Joe Schwalenberg of Virginia Beach; Frank C. Schwalenberg, and wife, Kimberly, of Chesapeake; three sisters, Margaret Burden, and husband, Wingate, of Aulander, N.C.; Carolyn Lawyer of Ahoskie; Mildred Staton, and husband, Dr. Earl Staton, of Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Betty Bosko of Solomons Island, Md.; three grandchildren, Chris Dawson, and wife, Paulette; Margaret Anne Dawson, and fiance, Perry Allen; and Kurt Johnson; two great-grandsons, J.C. and Cash; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett’s Creek Chapel, Suffolk, by the Rev. Carl LeMon. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home.
