Academy receives educational grants

David L. Holland, President of Southern Oil Company, Inc. in Suffolk, has assisted Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in securing grants from the Exxon-Mobil Educational Alliance program to support NSA.

The grants this year will go toward the technology portion of the &uot;NSA – Forging the Future&uot; Capital Campaign. NSA has received five grants totaling $2,500. These grants are part of 4,000 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Foundation.

&uot;It is our pleasure once again to assist NSA in receiving these grants to continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities to the young people of Suffolk,&uot; said Holland. &uot; We are committed to giving back to the community that has helped us build our business.&uot; Southern Oil Company met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded this grant including having a recognized commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.

Each $500 grant represents a station owned or supplied by Southern Oil Company, Inc.

Three stations are located in Suffolk: Southern Food Store #1, Southern Food Store #3 and Southern Food Store #5.

The fourth station, Carroll’s Exxon, is located in Ivor, Virginia and the fifth station, Cape Center, is located in Cape Charles, Virginia.
