FRANKLIN – David Alan &uot;Red&uot; Powell, 41, a supervisor with Birdsong Peanut Company, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003.
&uot;Red,&uot; a 1980 graduate of Franklin High School, was a member and hunt master of the 6-12 Hunt Club, and a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include his parents, Russell Lee Powell Sr. and Emily Winslow Powell of Franklin; two sisters, Wanda P. Bennett, and her husband, Kelly, of Evergreen, N.C.; and Wendy P. Mitchell, and her husband, Michael, of Portsmouth; a brother, Russell L. Powell Jr. of Franklin; two nieces, Rebecca and Sarah Mitchell; three nephews, Christopher and Daniel Bennett and Joshua Mitchell; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Lisa Turner of Franklin.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, with the Rev. Mike Harrell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 55, Franklin, Va. 23851.
