Jesse L. McCray, 78, of 1640 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, died Oct. 11, 2003, in Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Seaboard, N.C., he was the son of the late Charlie and Caroline Davis McCray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired machinist from Lipton Tea Company.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie O. McCray of Suffolk; two daughters and their spouses, Elsie Mae and Henry Johnson of East Orange, N. J. And Cheryl and Frederick Bartlett of Carrolton; two sons and their spouses, Steven I. McCray of Chesapeake and Michael and Judith McCray of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, in Crocker Funeral Home by Bishop Madison Copeland. Interment will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
