Target Stores are recognized for commitment to the communities in which they do business, and the Suffolk Target Import Warehouse demonstrated their commitment Friday by awarding the Suffolk Police Department a $649 grant to purchase equipment.

&uot;The grant supports Suffolk law enforcement’s ongoing commitment to serving the community,&uot; said Conrad Carwile, distribution security coordinator for the asset protection division of Target’s Suffolk location. &uot;This year, Target Stores, along with its parent company Target Corporation, will donate more than $2 million each week to nonprofit organizations nationwide.&uot;

Target Import Warehouse team members met Friday with Suffolk Police Chief William A. Freeman and Captain Stephanie Burch to accept grant funds.

&uot;The department has developed a close relationship with Target and we appreciate their contribution,&uot; said Burch. &uot;The money will be used to purchase a digital camera and a video recorder that will be used to assist us in home security surveys and in quality of life complaints.&uot;

Target believes no one knows a community’s needs better than the people who live and work there. That’s why Target local grant dollars are allocated by store leaders to hometown organizations.

Since opening its first store in 1962, Target has partnered with nonprofit organizations guests and team members to help meet community needs.
