Madeline Gary Brown of Suffolk passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at the age of 97.

Born Madeline Gary on Nov. 13, 1905 in Gary, Va., she moved to Kenbridge, Va., at an early age. Madeline was one of the six daughters and one son born to the late Herbert Henry and Virginia Walthall Gary of Kenbridge.

After graduation from Kenbridge High School, she attended Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood).

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Brown of Suffolk.

She was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church and was very active in the Lake Kilby Garden Club.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley.
