Saint Whelen named to All-TCIS first team

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s Patrick Whelen, who led the TCIS with 46 points, including 22 goals, was the sole Saint named to the All-TCIS first soccer team.

The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy defeated Norfolk Christian 21-15, 25-21, 25-19, 25-16 on Wednesday.

Local AAU boys basketball teams holding tryouts

Workout sessions for the Suffolk Blazers 12 and Under AAU basketball team will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. place Oct. 28 and 29 at Oakland Recreation Center, with tryouts scheduled for Nov. 10. STA banquet to be held Nov. 8

The Suffolk Tennis Association will be holding its annual tennis banquet on Nov. 8 at the Nansemond River Golf Club. Local champions will be awarded their trophies.
