Roosevelt Sr., 82, a native and resident of Suffolk, departed from life Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie E. Peoples.

Roosevelt leaves behind two sons, Roosevelt Peoples Jr. (Jean) of Chesapeake; and Timothy Peoples of Suffolk; three daughters, Peggy P. Byrd (Edwin) of Chesapeake; Odessa P. Miner (Rodney) of Hobbsville, N.C.; and Cassandra McDonald of Suffolk; three grandchildren, Clevester Peoples, Devona Brown and Kristie Peoples of Suffolk; two great-grandchildren; his beloved friend, Helen Mae Simpson; two step-daughters, Alice Whitaker of North Carolina; and Barbara Wiggins of Suffolk; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in Canaan Baptist Church, by the Rev. Robert L. Barnes II. Interment will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.
