Minnie F. Abbott

Minnie Frances Abbott, of the 400 block of Manning Bridge Road, Suffolk, departed from this life and entered into eternal life on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003.

A native of Isle of Wight County, and a member of Open Door Church, she was predeceased by her parents, Willie Wyatt and Lizzie Pope Roberts; her husband, Johnnie M. Abbott; her sister, Olive Bailey; two brothers, Thomas and Frank Roberts; and a son-in-law, William Staley Hobbs.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty Lee Harrington and husband, Jimmy, of Suffolk; and Betty Ann Hobbs of Chesapeake; one son, Johnnie W. Abbott Sr., and wife, Joan, of Suffolk; nine grandchildren, Linda H. Wilkenson, and husband, Lenny; Patsy A. Hobbs; and Michael Hobbs and wife, Brenda, all of Chesapeake; Jimmy R. Harrington Jr. and wife, Teresa; Johnnie W. Abbott Jr. and wife, Terri; Sherry A. Outland and husband, John; Herbie P. Abbott and wife, Darlene; Kim A. Gomer and husband, Lance; and

LeAnne H. Legg and husband, Alan, of Southport, N.C.; 14 great-grandchildren, Amber N. Outland, Sarah F. Outland, Joan L. Abbott, Cameron L. Gomer, Herbie M. Abbott, Johnnie W. Abbott III; Garrett B. Abbott, Darlena Abbott, and Noah Harrington, all of Suffolk; Jennifer Leffler, Kelly Hobbs and Megan Hobbs, all of Chesapeake; Aaron Legg and Matthew Legg of Southport, N.C.; many nieces, nephews; and two special friends, Mary Byrd and Selma Ellis of Suffolk.

A true gift from God, &uot;Grandma&uot; as she was known by so many, was loved and will be sadly missed by all.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Open Door Church with Pastor Kathleen Peaks officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowbook Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Harrell & Hill Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
