The Mayor’s Greater Downtown Development Committee and Ray Gindroz, a planner with the Pittsburgh-based Urban Design Associates, are meeting at noon today to discuss additions to the city’s Downtown Initiative Plan.

The initial plan had three major goals: Construction of the Constant’s Wharf hotel and conference center, turning the former Suffolk High School into a cultural arts center, and renovating the Professional Building.

With all three projects under way, the committee will be looking at further improvements to downtown, said Elizabeth McCoury, the city’s downtown coordinator.

Residents and business owners will have a chance to look at the committee’s proposed additions to the plan during a community meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Both meetings are being held in St Paul’s Episcopal Church.
