Whaleyville Community Center to reopen tonight

The Suffolk Parks and Rec. Dept. will be hosting the Grand Re-Opening of the Whaleyville Community Center at 6:30 p.m. today. The ceremony is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Local AAU basketball girls, boys teams holding tryouts.

Anyone interested in participating in boys AAU 10-U Basketball should contact Erik Robinson at 619-7523.

AAU tryouts and conditioning for the 14U and 12U girls teams will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today and Nov. 17 in Mack Benn Recreation Center.

‘Canned Food’ basketball tournament to begin Nov. 22

The East Suffolk Federated League will be holding the 19th Annual Canned Food Thanksgiv-ing Basketball Tournament Nov. 22, 24-26 at Booker T. Washington Recreation Center.

Eight teams of 13 players each of youths ages 9-12 and 13-16, and men’s and women’s adult teams of 17 and over will take part. Youth registration is $50 and adult is $100, and deposits are due by Nov. 17.

All team members are required to bring a canned food each day they are scheduled to play, and a donation will be made to the Suffolk Rescue Squad.
