The Market Square Neighborhood Association is meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday so residents can learn more about the city’s recent discussions about changes to the neighborhood.

Ray Gindroz, planner with the Pittsburgh-based Urban Design Associates, recently recommended that the city consider making Clay Street a conservation district and Pine Street, a redevelopment district.

The Clay Street recommendation calls for working to preserve the houses on the street and includes a suggestion to widen the street. However, the focus of the Pine Street project would be on the gradual replacement of many of the street’s existing, dilapidated buildings.

Gindroz also recommended that parallel and perpendicular street parking be added on the block of Saratoga Street, between Market and West Washington streets. With the existing parking lot, that would increases total vehicle capacity to 80 to 100 cars.

The meeting, which is for both renters and property owners, will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 213 N. Main St. Use back entrance.
