During the Suffolk City Council meeting, Betsy Brothers receives a certificate of appreciation from Scott Spence, president of the Virginia Society of American Architects and Engineers. He’s also director of architecture and engineering for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The award (originally presented two weeks ago at the Jefferson Hotel) was given, in Brothers’ view, for a combination of things – various preservations projects for the past 20 or so years, such as Riddick’s Folly, the Seaboard Train Station, her home house, and the future cultural arts center that will be established in the former Suffolk High School.
