New Mt. Joy Family Worship Center’s (FWC) &uot;On the Road to Recovery Drug and Alcohol Outreach Ministry&uot; is sponsoring a Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, and the community is invited to come and share a time of thanksgiving to God and a delicious meal.

&uot;This marks our sixth year that we have provided Thanksgiving dinner for the people of Suffolk,&uot; said Ron Vinson, president of the drug ministry. &uot;I personally know how vital it is that we reach out to the community because I have been in the position of needing help when I was addicted. I know if it had not been for the people who prayed for me, fed me, and sometimes clothed me, I would still be lost. Instead, they fed me with a meal and the word of God and it changed my life. I am totally delivered and I want to pass that blessing along to as many others as possible.&uot;

Vinson said that he will also be offering thanks to God for Dr. W.P. Wiggins and his wife, Lula Wiggins, for their help in establishing the drug outreach ministry.

&uot;They were so gracious in helping us to reach out and help these drug addicted people… to get them off the drugs,&uot; said Vinson. &uot;Without the support of Pastor Wiggins and the church family, we could not have accomplished our mission.&uot;

Vinson said that the Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday will include everything from turkey and dressing to chicken in every style, pasta and potato salads, cranberry sauce, rolls, cakes, and pies.

&uot;We’re having some of everything that’s considered traditional for Thanksgiving,&uot; said Vinson. &uot;There are a lot of places offering a meal and we are so blessed in Suffolk that so many want to help people out. I have a vision of someday having all the churches of Suffolk join together in one huge Thanksgiving dinner where we can invite everyone to one place. Can you imagine! All coming together for the glory of God!&uot;
