Cory Allen Jowers, 5, of Cypress Chapel, was jumping for joy when he received a call from the News-Herald’s Lu Mitchell informing him that he was a winner in the &uot;Turkey Coloring Contest.&uot;

&uot;I was so happy, I didn’t know what to say so I didn’t say anything,&uot; said Cory. &uot;My mom was on the other phone so she talked for me.&uot;

Matina Gillespie, Cory’s mom, brought him to the News-Herald’s &uot;newsroom&uot; Friday and he was presented with a &uot;PlayStation 2.

&uot;He’d wanted a PlayStation but we didn’t have the money for it and Santa, too,&uot; said Gillespie. &uot;Now, Santa can come and Cory has an early Christmas present.&uot;

Gillespie said she and her mom have been subscribers to the News-Herald for many years. This was her son’s first entry into a contest.

&uot;After this, I’ll let Cory enter every one of the contests,&uot; she said.

Lee Willis of General Pickett Drive said this is his second entry in a News-Herald Contest but certainly not his last.

&uot;They told me there would be another contest before Christmas,&uot; said Lee, a student at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. &uot;I’d like to win the PlayStation so my sister Logan, can play with it also.&uot;

Lee is the son of Lynnette and Lenny Willis and the grandson of C.L. Willis Jr. and Loretta Willis. In fact, it was the grandparents who provided Lee with the Trivia Contest information.
