Hampered by foul trouble and a lack of offensive prowess, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday, falling 47-33 to visiting Norfolk Academy. After the Lady Saints kept the game close throughout the first 1.5 quarters, center Lexi Holland racked up three quick fouls, temporarily forcing her to the bench. Without one of their most prolific weapons, the Lady Saints were outscored 16-5 in the third quarter, and failed to threaten again.

Ann-Taylor Spain had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Claire Leonard and Michelle Boucher had six steals apiece. Boucher also yanked down six rebounds and scored nine points, but she, Leonard and Holland were the only other Lady Saints to score. The Lady Saints will visit Bishop Sullivan on Thursday, part of a three-game road trip.

The Nansemond River girls fell to visiting Indian River (final score unreported) Tusday, and the result from the Lakeland-Great Bridge game went unreported. Lakeland will host Kempsville on Thursday, while the Lady Cavaliers host Hickory.
