The walls of Oakland Christian Church are ringing with music this season as the congregation prepares for Christmas Day. Just this past Sunday, church members were involved in an Advent activity of making Chrismon tree ornaments.

At 3 p.m. Dec. 14, the church musical will be presented (and repeated at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15). This cantata, &uot;Festival of Lights&uot; will featured the Chancel, Messengers of Faith, God’s Promise and Handbell choirs, all under the direction of Paul Putman. Naturally, a reception will follow both performances.

At 11 a.m. Dec. 21, the Children’s Christmas pageant takes place. This year, two adults will tell the Christmas story and &uot;Joyful Noise,&uot; a children’s choir, will gradually join in to form a Nativity scene. At 12:15 p.m., there will be a birthday party for Jesus, and the congregation will create a &uot;Tree of Warmth&uot; by bringing in scarves, mittens, socks, and hats.

A family-oriented Christmas Eve service takes place at 5 p.m., with a traditional candlelight service at 11 p.m.

Oakland Christian is located at 5641 Godwin Blvd. The Rev. Mark Burns is the pastor, and the Rev. Leanna Fuller is the associate pastor.
