Suffolk News-Herald

With today’s donations totaling $1,050, the Suffolk Cheer Fund grand total has reached $33,669.90. That means that we only need $6,330.10 to reach our goal of $40,000 for 2003.

We, the staff at the News-Herald, want to thank each and every one of you in the community who contributed to our cause that allowed 1,687 underprivileged children to receive new toys for Christmas.

However, we also want to remind you that even though Christmas Day in now history, the drive will continue a little longer. This means that if you have done all of your Christmas shopping and found out that you have a little money left over, it is still not too late to contribute to the Suffolk Cheer Fund.

If you want to claim your tax-exempt contribution on your 2003 income tax form, you must make your donation on or before Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Just come by the office at 130 S. Saratoga St. or mail your remittance to The Suffolk Cheer Fund, P.O. Box 1220, Suffolk, Va. 23439.

Any donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated.
