Johnnie Matthew Moore, 85, of 297 Pleasant St., Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at his residence.

He was a native of South Carolina.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had retired from Coastal Lumber Co.

He is survived by one daughter, Mattie M. Moore of South Carolina; one son, James Garland of New York; five grandchildren; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Crocker Funeral Home by Bishop Madison Copeland. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
