Robert William Gay Jr., son of Velma Jones Brownson and the late Robert William Gay Sr., was born on May 5, 1951, in Suffolk. The Lord called him home on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004

At an early age, Robert moved to Ohio.

He was employed by Perfection Metal.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Velma Brownson of Suffolk; one son, Robert W. Gay III; two daughters, Rikita Gay and Shilonda Gay; five brothers, Kerry Jones (Zena) of Cleveland, Ohio; Anthony Jones and Bryant Dixon, both of Suffolk; Ronald Reynolds and Donald (Norma) Reynolds, both of Patterson, N.J.; four sisters, Vallory Ward of Hampton; Sandra V. Gay of Suffolk; Vicky Dixon of Franklin; and Renee Parker of Carrsville; two grandchildren, Jameisha Gay and Tian Gay; a devoted friend, Connie Sydnor of Richmond; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
