Main Street United Methodist continues to observe Epiphany. At worship on Jan. 25, the Rev. Robert Parks will speak on the topic: &uot;Jesus, filled with the power of the Spirit&uot; (Luke 4:14-21).The church will also hold an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Jan 25 for anyone interested in hosting a Russian child for three weeks this summer.

Bishop Johnnie Anderson, chief apostle, and Little Bethlehem, Brooklyn, N.Y., will be at St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness at 11 a.m. Jan. 25. This will be the 33rd anniversary of the pastor, Bishop Early Gay Jr.

Faith-based workshop

IMPACT Suffolk is sponsoring a faith-based workshop, &uot;Writing Mission Statements and Grant Proposals&uot; from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 31 and Feb. 21. This will be presented by Dr. Carolyn Mayfield, professor of English and grant writer. This takes place at Paul D. Camp Community College, 271 Kenyon Road. Alpha Course

St. Paul’s Episcopal will begin the Alpha Course at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 1 in Randolph Hall (the church social hall), 213 N. Main St. This 10-week non-denominational practical introduction to the Christian faith offers answers to some key questions. Each weekly session begins with an informal dinner, followed by a large-group learning time, and ends with small-group discussions and interaction. Alpha began in London and is now held in thousands of churches around the world. First Fridays
