Mavin B. Jones

Mavin Irene Byrum Jones of Greenway Road, Suffolk, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, with her loving husband, son, daughter, and her three granddaughters at her side.

She was a native of Chowan County, N.C., and a retiree from Lipton Tea after 32 years of service.

She was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church, and a happy homemaker in her senior years.

Her survivors include J. Ollie, her loving husband and best friend of 56 years; a son, Linard T., and wife, Libby; a daughter, Marilyn, and husband, Larry; sisters, Annie Bilby, and husband, Phil, and Marie Matthews, and husband, Bill; a brother, Hubert Byrum, and wife, Nellie; two sisters-in-law, Odell Everett, and husband, James R. Jones, and wife, Mary W. Other survivors include her three loving granddaughters, Amanda Stewart, and husband, Dave, Cynthia Cale, and husband, Robbie, and Vickie Bailey, and husband, Eric; a great-grandson, Nicholas James Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Jonathan Judy. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the funeral home, and other times at the residence, 2965 Greenway Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Great Fork Baptist Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society.
