Panfield Burgess, 81, of 804 W. Constance Road, Suffolk, departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

A native of Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Eddie and Betsy Burgess. She was predeceased by her daughter, Alonia Marie Hawkins.

She was a former employee of Pond Brothers.

She was a member of Tabernacle Christian United Church.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory three grandchildren, Vanessa Hawkins and Charles O. Hawkins Jr., both of Suffolk; and Deborah Hawkins of Williamsburg; two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; and caretakers, Laura Jones, Shirley Hedgepeth, Nadina Gary, Bernice Cherry, Ethel Evans, and Angela Williams.

The funeral will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 19, in Tabernacle Christian United Church. Interment will be in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viewing takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends other times at Chorey Park, 804 W. Constance Road, Apt. 213, and 1412 Sierra Drive, Lake Kennedy, from where the procession will leave at 11:15 a.m. Feb. 19.
