Shina A. Parson

Shina A. Parson, 56, of the 3800 block of Peachwood Drive, Portsmouth, was born on July 21, 1947, and died Feb. 11 at home after a long illness.

She was a native of Jamaica, N.Y., she was predeceased by her mother, Albronia Clark, and brother-in-law, Victor Parson.

She was employed for five years with Obici Hospital and had retired from AT&T Telephone Co., Norfolk, after 29 years of service.

She was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Suffolk.

Survivors include her husband, Albert H. Parson; two daughters, Aneika and Alva Parson, both of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Tajaunna and Joseph, all of Portsmouth; father, Alfonso Clark of New York; one sister, Portia Clark of New York; father-in-law, Horace W. Parson Sr. of Suffolk; mother-in-law, Rassie Parson of Suffolk; two brothers-in-law, Horace W. Parson Jr. of Georgia, and Carl Nimmons of New York; three sisters-in-law, Stephanie Parsons of Suffolk; Cheryl Parson of Chesapeake; and Betty Parson of Georgia; two aunts, Edna Green and Maggie Holland, both of Suffolk; two uncles, James T. Holland and Junious Holland, both of Suffolk; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and loyal friends.

The funeral will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 16, in Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Anthony Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home.

The body will be taken at 10 a.m. Sunday to the church.

Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Sunday at 3820 Peachwood Drive, Portsmouth, for the procession.
